Viruses taking a toll on Perth County long-term care homes

Norovirus and influenza A have rolled through Perth County’s long-term care homes.

Between December 1st and February 26th there have been 20 outbreaks between the two viruses.

With that in mind the Perth District Health Unit is urging sick people to avoid visiting.

Illnesses like influenza can kill people living in long-term care.

The PDHU says even with the best infection control practices it’s hard to stop a bug from spreading once it’s inside.
