Stratford mayor hopeful about infrastructure funding

The federal government made a big infrastructure funding announcement yesterday.

It will allocate $14 billion over ten years for upgrades through its ‘Building Canada’ fund.

Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson says the funding is good news but even better news is the fact that a good chunk of it is set aside specifically for smaller municipalities.

Mathieson says the city will apply for funding as soon as the guidelines are announces for which projects qualify.

He says they already know which local projects they would like to tackle.
