Great Lakes hit with $150k fine over former Mitchell hog plant

Great Lakes Specialty Meats of Canada has been hit with a big fine.

It comes after an investigation showed the company’s former hog processing plant in Mitchell discharged wastewater into the river.

The company also didn’t bother to inform the proper authorities immediately.

In total Great Lakes was fined $150,000 plus $37,500 in victim surcharges.
