C. difficile outbreak at Stratford General Hospital

There’s an outbreak at Stratford General Hospital.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance says they’re dealing with Clostridium difficile in the Medicine/Integrated Stroke Unit.  C.difficile is a bacteria that can cause damage to the bowel lining of some hospitalized people leading to diarrhea.

The HPHA says hand washing is key to stopping it from spreading.  If you’re visiting you’re being asked to wash your hands when you enter and exit the hospital as well as patient care areas and rooms.

The HPHA is also asking people for the time being to limit their visits to one patient.
