Local snowmobilers warned about ice

The OPP Snowmobile and ATV Enforcement Team would like to remind enthusiasts that warmer temperatures and rain may cause ice to become extremely dangerous.

Spring isn’t too far away now.

Ice on area lakes and rivers may become unstable.

Stay off the ice until you have checked to make sure it is thick enough to support your weight and the weight of your vehicle.

Police also suggest you wear a flotation suit.

One ATV requires a minimum of five inches of new clear ice to support it.
