PDHU warning about the dangers of ticks

It’s tick season.

With the warmer weather here and people heading outdoors the Perth District Health Unit says people have to be aware of the little bugs.  That’s because blacklegged tick bites can cause Lyme disease.

Although blacklegged ticks aren’t a problem in Perth County the danger comes from camping and hiking trips to other parts of the province.  Using insect repellant and wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants tucked into your socks can help keep them off of you.

You can find more information about how to deal with ticks at the Perth District Health Unit’s website.
