Community mailboxes robbed

Canada Post community mailboxes were broken into sometime last week in Wellington County.

The OPP received numerous reports of incidents occurring between February 14th and February 21st.

A 31-year-old Fergus male was eventually arrested and now faces multiple charges.

The thefts occurred in the Guelph-Eramosa Township.

The police investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

As Canada Post cancels door-to-door mail delivery and moves towards more community mailboxes, local residents need to be vigilant as these mailboxes are out in the open and are not guarded.
