Tractor trailer loses wheels and strikes car

A run-away tire caused a collision yesterday morning between Sebringville and Mitchell.

The Perth County OPP was called out at 8:00am after a tire flew off a tractor trailer and struck a car.

A tractor trailer was headed west bound on Highway 8, when two passenger side tires from the rear axle of the full sized trailer came loose.

One of the tires bounced and rolled onto the east bound lane, where it struck an east bound 2006 Pontiac four Door Sedan.

The 59-year-old West Perth woman driving the sedan was not hurt but her vehicle was severely damaged.

Police stopped the tractor trailer in Clinton.

The Perth County OPP is continuing its investigation.
