There’s at least one person who’s not happy with Yves Desjardins-Siciliano’s announcement.
That’s Greg Gormick. Gormick is a premier rail policy adviser working with the local group Save VIA.
In an interview this morning he called Desjardins-Siciliano’s Stratford announcement a “snake oil sales campaign”. Gormick attended a meeting with the VIA Rail representatives in St. Marys yesterday following the Stratford meeting.
He says they tried to sow some dissension in the ranks:

Gormick says VIA Rail hasn’t even let the railway owners know about the plan:

Gormick believes VIA Rail’s plans for a new early morning train between Stratford and Toronto is nothing more than “pre-election campaigning” on behalf of the federal government.
