The Perth County OPP says the CRA Scam is hitting the area. They say they’ve gotten a number of calls in the past month about it.
The scammers will phone you or email you; pretend they’re from the Canada Revenue Agency, and then demand payment for fictitious back taxes.
Some residents are even being threatened with jail time if they don’t pay up. If you get a call from someone claiming to be from the CRA you need to double check and make sure they are indeed who they say they are.
