Stratford Police take part in human trafficking investigation

A long list of charges have been laid after a nationwide human trafficking investigation.  In total 21 police services took part in the third phase of Operation Northern Spotlight, including the Stratford Police.

Last Wednesday and Thursday police met with people suspected of being in the sex trade, potentially against their will, in cities across Ontario.  Police have laid 41 charges against two people related to the investigation although none of them were in Stratford.

They were also able to return six teenaged girls to safety who’d been working in the sex trade against their will.

If you have any information about human trafficking you’re urged to call the Stratford Police at 519-271-4147 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
