Former Stratford Festival artistic director passes away

The Stratford Festival is mourning the loss of Robin Phillips.  He was the artistic director between 1975 and 1980.

The Festival says Phillips’ brought a number of changes and innovations.  He increased the number of productions each season and had the removable balcony on the Festival Theatre stage installed.

The Festival says many remember Phillip’s tenure as artistic director as a “golden age”.

He died at his home near Stratford on Saturday.  Phillips was 73-years-old.
