Torrance Police getting award for solving Lynne Knight case

A police department in California is getting recognition for solving the murder of Lynne Knight. The California Peace Officers’ Association is giving the award for Best Cold Case Solved in 2014 to the Torrance PD.

Knight was murdered in 1979 after moving there from Stratford to find work as a nurse.  In 2009 police were finally able to link ex-boyfriend and long-time suspect Douglas Gordon Bradford to the crime.

Bradford used the same kind of wire to strangle Knight that his mother used to hang her artwork.  Last year Bradford was convicted and sentenced to 26 years to life for Knight’s murder.

The Torrance PD will be getting their award next month.
