Cancer Society looking for volunteers for new study

March is Colon Cancer Awareness month.

During the month the Huron-Perth chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society is urging colon cancer survivors to volunteer for a new study.

The Society is funding the “CHALLENGE” trial, which is aimed at seeing if exercise can prevent cancer from recurring.

Dianne Mohr, Manager for the Canadian Cancer Society Huron-Perth, tells us what you’ll be asked to do:

According to the Cancer Society even though colon cancer is one of the most treatable forms of the disease, about 3,350 men and women died from it in Ontario last year.

That’s second only to lung cancer.

Mohr tells us why she believes the numbers are so high:

Anyone interested in taking part in the CHALLENGE trial can call the Society at 1-888-939-3333 or email info@cis.cancer.ca for more information.
