Stratford awarded 70th Anniversary Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden

Stratford is getting a new garden, but it’s not just any garden.

It’s a 70th Anniversary Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden.

Only 140 are being given out across Canada.

The gardens are a way to celebrate the first gift of 100,000 Dutch tulip bulbs sent to Canadians in 1945.

They were a symbol of appreciation for the role Canadian soldiers played in the liberation of the Netherlands.

The garden will be planted next Saturday, November 7th, at 2:00pm at the Dutch Memorial Garden at the intersection of Huron, William and Mornington streets.

All are welcome to attend.
