Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden getting planted Saturday

A special garden is going to be plated in Stratford tomorrow.

It’s a 70th Anniversary Dutch-Canadian Friendship Tulip Garden.

Stratford is one of only 140 communities across the country getting one.

It’s going in the Dutch Memorial Garden at the intersection of Huron, William and Mornington streets at 2:00pm.

In 1945 100,000 Dutch tulip bulbs were given to Canada as a symbol of gratitude for the liberation of the Netherlands from the Nazis.

These Friendship Gardens are a way to celebrate that gift.
