National Pork Board in USA invests in PED research

There are now 29 PED cases confirmed in Ontario.

The most recent one surfaced on a finisher operation in Haldimand County.

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus has savaged pig farms throughout the USA and wiped out millions of piglets since last May.

The National Pork Board in the U-S has announced additional funds for research in the fight against the further spread of the illness.

It has earmarked $650,000 which will examine, among other things, the possible transmission of the disease through swine feed.

Of the 29 PED cases in the province, four of them are in Perth County.
