Natural gas rates could spike 50 per cent on April 1st

Natural gas users in our area and across the province could be in for a nasty April Fools Day prank.

Enbridge says they’ve burned through their winter supply of natural gas and want to hike your rate by about 40 per cent.

The fuel giant has applied to the Ontario Energy Board for the increase.

Critics say the hike is actually closer to 50 per cent once taxes are factored in.

If approved, the increase would take effect April 1st.
