The old St. John’s United Church has been sold.
A report in the Beacon Herald says local hotelier Vic Hayter has bought the property. The deal is expected to close at the end of June.
The report says Hayter isn’t sure of what he’s going to do with the property other than demolishing the church.
In the meantime the building is being used by the congregation of Avondale United. The former Central United Church building, which is the main place of worship for the congregation, is being renovated for the next five months.
Avondale United is the product of last year’s amalgamation of Central and St. John’s.
