Distracted driving fines increase today

If you’re going to be driving into work this morning here’s an important reminder; put down the phone and the sandwich while behind the wheel.

The distracted driving fines spike today in Ontario.

They increase to $280 for people caught texting or chatting on the phone while driving. You can also get dinged for eating, drinking, playing video games, doing hair and makeup or reaching in the backseat.

Police say distracted driving is now causing more highway deaths than drunk driving.

Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
