UTRCA Promotes LID storm water techniques

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority wants to promote Low Impact Development (LID) techniques for storm water.

LID techniques are used to improve storm water quality and infiltration by treating, filtering, and retaining runoff at the source.

The UTRCA would like to see these new methods become the norm in buildings along the watershed and throughout the province.

Examples of LID techniques for stormwater management:

  • Bioretention and swales
  • Green Roofs
  • Permeable Pavers
  • Rain Barrels & Cisterns
  • Naturalized Lawns
  • Rain Gardens
  • Tree Box Filters

Stratford, St Marys, Sebringville, Woodstock, Ingersoll and London are all starting to implement LID techniques.

For more information, visit the UTRCA website.
