Investments from Community Futures Development Corporations get big returns

A new study from the Conference Board of Canada shows that Community Futures Development Corporations have a big impact on our communities.

The CFDC’s lend money to small and medium-sized businesses with lightened credit conditions. The report says that each dollar of direct lending through the program returns $4.50 of economic impact.

In our area the Perth CFDC lent roughly $5,600,000 between 2009 and 2014. Using the Conference Board’s formula that would mean there was a more than $25,000,000 economic return to our area.
