‘Heroes are Human’ Emergency Services Workshop

Mental health has been in the news a lot lately and it will be discussed in Stratford today.

The end of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan, the recent suicides of multiple soldiers who served in that conflict along with the closure of the Veterans Affairs offices has moved the issue into the spotlight.

However, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Critical Incident Stress also impacts police, fire fighters, EMS workers and others in dangerous, high pressure careers.

With that in mind, there will be a workshop today at the Stratford Golf and Country Club organized by the Perth County Emergency Medical Services.

The keynote speaker will be Vince Savoia, founder of The Heroes are Human Tema Conter Memorial Trust.

He is an expert in work-related mental health and wellness.

The paramedics union CUPE Local 4514 will show its support to this cause by presenting a donation to the Trust campaign during the workshop.

More information can be found at the trust’s website.
