Stratford Festival holds AGM on Saturday

The Stratford Festival is back in the black!

After running a deficit in 2012, Executive Director Anita Gaffney reported to the company’s Annual General Meeting that the festival posted a $1.4 million surplus in 2013.

She says this is due to an 11 per cent spike in tickets sales.

She says they carved 3.5 per cent out of the budget.

Gaffney also told the AGM Saturday morning that the Stratford Festival will hit an important attendance milestone this season.

Artistic Director Antoni Cimolino says the festival is not slowing down anytime soon.

He spoke about the two different versions of a Midsummer Night’s Dream this season.

One will take place at the Masonic Hall in Stratford and he promises theatre goers an experience they won’t forget.

Cimolino spoke to the crowd at length about the Festival Forum and many other initiatives that will make the Stratford Festival ‘indispensable to the world.’

The 2014 season of the Stratford Festival will run from April 21st to October 12th.
