Documentary playing in Stratford says free play crucial to children’s development

Children don’t get enough free play.

That’s the message of a documentary called Time to Play that’s being shown in Stratford tonight. The film was put together by Kim Hunter, a winner of the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence.

Hunter believes overscheduling children’s lives is leading them down a dark path:

Hunter says the problem started a few decades ago:

The documentary explores the effect both too many planned activities and the preoccupation with technology can have on a developing child. Time to Play is being shown at the Falstaff Family Centre at 7:00pm. Admission is free.
