People who like to buy things online can now feel a little safer about it.
A new Internet Purchase Exchange Zone has been set up by the Stratford Police. It’s an area beside the headquarters on George Street that’s monitored by video camera 24/7.
People who buy things online can meet at the spot to exchange the money and the items. Stratford Police Chief Mike Bellai says a recent tragedy was the motivation for the zone:
Tim Bosma was killed when two people got in touch with him online to buy a pickup truck he was selling.
Chief Bellai says they’re getting good feedback so far:
Bellai adds anyone who’s using the zone can even go into the headquarters and let an officer know ahead of time that they’ll be there to make things even safer.
