Beloved husband of the late Florence McPhail. Dear father of Heather Burrow and Bob, Valeri Scott and Alec, Ruth Morrison and Ken, Bonnie Docking and Jim, Bill McPhail and Kathy. Loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Also surviving is his sister Lillian Hocking, brother Darwin McPhail and Doriene; and brother-in-law, Norman Dow.

Predeceased by sisters, Doreen Taylor and Winnifred Dow; brothers Ft/Lt William McPhail and Nelson McPhail; and by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Illa and Lloyd Barker, Velma and Clarence Shelley, Lorne Taylor and Donald Hocking.

Ross was born in Fullarton Township and resided at Gowrie until the age of 12 when he moved to Hibbert Township with his family. After their marriage, Ross and Florence farmed in Hibbert Township until their retirement to Mitchell in 1995. Ross was proud of his public service in municipal politics, serving as Councillor and Reeve of Hibbert Township from 1963 until 1982; and Perth County Warden in 1970.

Visitation at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Interment in Roy’s Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Mitchell Nursing Home or charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. Condolences and donations may be made at www.LockhartFuneralHome.com.
