Website lets you check if something is stolen before you buy it

The Huron County OPP wants people to check before they buy. The public now has limited access to the Canadian Police Information Centre.

It’s an online tool that keeps a database of things that have been stolen. That means you can check it to see if something, such as a car or ATV, has been reported stolen, before it ends up in your hands.

The OPP says vehicle data is updated daily while property information is updated once a week.

All you need is a serial number to check the database.  You can find CPIC at this website.
