Man facing impaired, other charges after trying to get away from police

A 40-year-old West Perth man is facing impaired driving charges after the OPP says he tried to run away from them. It happened on Christmas Eve on Ontario Road.

The OPP says when they tried to pull the car over the driver stopped in a parking lot, got out, and took off on foot. He was arrested after a short chase.

The OPP says he had alcohol on his breath and failed breath tests back at the station. On top of the impaired charges he’s also been charged with driving while suspended. He’s also lost his licence for 90 days and his car for seven.
