RED money for five local projects

Five local initiatives received a funding boost from the province yesterday.

Rural Affairs Minister Jeff Leal stopped by the Perth County Court house to announce $170,000 from the Rural Ecomomc Development program.

A big chunk of that went to the company Quality Fertilizer in Shakespeare.

Owner Charlie Dunsmore says the RED program is hugely beneficial for rural entrepreneurs like him.

He says the grant is a big boost for his company.

Leal quoted Bill Davis saying Ontario is still a province of small communities and big dreams.

He says the RED funding in the area will help those big dreams along.

The Stratford Tourism Alliance also received a cash infusion to develop a digital marketing strategy.
