New expansion of bail services coming to Southwestern Ontario

A bail service expansion will increase support for people awaiting court dates in Southwestern Ontario.

The Ontario Government says the Bail Verification Supervision Program will be expanding into the area, including Stratford, Woodstock and St. Thomas. This will increase supervision and support to low-risk individuals before their trial date.

More judges and Crown attorneys will also be added across the province.

The moves are part of a larger plan to help reduce wait times, as well as improve the bail system.
