Snowmobile Safety Week starts Monday

It’s snowmobile safety week next week and the OFSC and OPP are trying to get the word out about riding safely.

The OPP says seven snowmobilers have died so far this season. Three of those deaths have come from snowmobiles falling through the ice. Police and the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs are telling people to stay on the trails and stay off unsafe waterways.

Officials also remind snowmobilers to be prepared before they head out on the trails. Have a plan, carry an emergency/survival kit, have a charged mobile phone and a personal tracking unit.

You can learn more about safety and trail conditions across Ontario by visiting ofsc.on.ca.
