Mathieson says progress is coming on passenger rail service

Dan Mathieson is optimistic about the future of passenger rail service in our region.

He met with Dino Trubiano; VIA Director of Network Planning and Scheduling in Toronto last week.

The Stratford Mayor was joined by reps from the CFUW, SWEA and Sarnia.

He says the meeting went well.

Mathieson says the show of unity from such different groups was instrumental in conveying the importance of this issue.

The next step is to meet with Metrolinx; the corporation that runs GO Transit.

Mathieson says current plans to build a GO Train layover in Baden are odd.

Mathieson adds that all the basic infrastructure for a layover station is in Stratford and the community would support it.
