AGCO nixes Lincolns’ fundraiser

The Town of St. Marys says it’s working closely with Lincolns officials to address its Chase the Ace sweepstakes.

This comes after the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario has told them it qualifies as illegal gambling. The town says it was told Wednesday by the AGCO that it will be getting an infraction notice.

In response the town says it’s told the hockey team to stop selling tickets, advertising or handing out prize money for the sweepstakes. The town says the team thought Chase the Ace was legal as there was a free entry option.

The town adds it will continue to support the Lincolns and has retained a lawyer who specializes in lottery licences to help figure out what actions need to be taken to resolve the issue.
