Fire department staff to visit neighbourhoods after a blaze

The Perth East and West Perth fire departments are responding to an increase in fatal fires in Ontario. A new program called “After the Fire” is launching.

The program will see fire department staff going door-to-door in areas where a fire has happened. The staff will be ensuring homes in the area have the required smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and giving out important fire safety information.

Chief Bill Hunter says “After the Fire” is just another example of both departments commitment to public safety. Hunter adds ideally they won’t have to use the new program but that if there is a fire they need to make sure the rest of the neighbourhood is safe.
