The Perth District Health Unit says another rabid cow has been found in Elma Ward.
The PDHU says that’s not surprising since another rabid animal was already found on the same farm in November. This puts the total number of rabid cows found in Perth County since 2015 at five.
Senior Public Health Inspector Dale Lyttle says it’s a reminder that rabies is still present in Perth County.
There are steps you can take to help keep your family safe. They include making sure your pets have up-to-date rabies vaccinations, keeping them indoors at night and not letting them run free in the neighbourhood, and teaching your children to stay away from animals they don’t know or that are acting strangely.
