Stratford’s city council cost just over $240,400 last year. That’s the grand total of salaries, expenses and mileage for the city’s mayor and 10 councillors.
Mayor Dan Mathieson was paid just over $85,000. Most of that came from his base salary of roughly $63,500 and $11,900 in expenses.
Each councillor was paid $11,537 in base salary except for deputy mayor Martin Ritsma who was paid $13,173. Councillors also earned between zero and $6,433 in remuneration for meetings including local board meetings.
Four councillors, Ritsma, George Brown, Kerry McManus and Frank Mark, claimed no expenses or mileage. The figures were released at Monday night’s council meeting.
