R.I.D.E stop leads to stolen property charges

Two men have been charged after going through a R.I.D.E check, but not for what you’re probably thinking. The Perth County OPP had the stop set up in Monkton around 2:00am Saturday.

A silver Dodge Ram pulled up and was inspected by police. The OPP says it turns out the truck had a stolen licence plate.

The driver and the passenger, both in their mid-twenties, one from Mapleton and the other from North Perth, were arrested. A search turned up a second stolen plate.

The men are facing two counts each of possession of stolen property and one was also charged with not complying with a recognizance.
