St. Marys, West Perth get roughly $95,000 combined for infrastructure upgrades

West Perth and St. Marys are both getting funding for transit infrastructure upgrades. The money is coming from the Canada-Ontario Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

West Perth is getting $28,304 to replace an accessible van. St. Marys is getting $67,500 to make sidewalks more accessible.

Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says that while the funding is welcome news he’s disappointed that what he calls only a small portion of the $202 million in announced infrastructure fund spending is going to towns and rural municipalities.

He says there’s still a considerable need for infrastructure across Perth-Wellington, including more accessible transportation options and improved train services in Stratford and St. Marys.
