PED hits two more farms

PED has struck two more farms in our region.

Farrow-to-finish operations in Huron and Lambton are the latest to be hit by the Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea virus.

There are now 52 cases of the nasty disease in Ontario – 10 of them are in Huron, six in Perth and nine in Oxford.

The illness has also spread to Manitoba, Quebec and PEI.

It has wiped out millions of piglets across the United States since last May.

PED is not contagious to humans and does not affect meat quality.
