The Rea and Walter Act is one step closer to becoming law. Randy Pettapiece’s private member’s bill to help keep firefighters safe passed at Queen’s Park on Thursday. The Perth-Wellington MPP’s bill calls for emblems to clearly mark buildings made with lightweight materials. Pettapiece named his bill in memory of volunteer firefighters Ken Rea and Ray Walter who died battling a blaze in Listowel in 2011. The bill will now move to the committee stage.
