You’ll soon be able to pay for parking in Stratford using your licence plate. Council accepted a proposal from Cale Systems Inc. at Monday night’s meeting.
The company will be installing five pay-by-licence-plate units in the city. The machines let drivers punch in their licence plate number and then print out a ticket.
There’s also an option that would allow people to purchase more parking time remotely without having to go back to their cars that the city could adopt but a final decision on that hasn’t been made yet. Parking enforcement can be done by officers entering licence plate numbers into handheld units or even by an automatic plate reader mounted on a vehicle.
