Stratford getting visit from Netherlands royal family

Stratford is getting a couple of royal visitors.

Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and her husband Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven are coming on May 14th. The couple’s visit will include a tour of Stratford followed by a visit to Goderich.

Mayor Dan Mathieson says the city is honoured to host the visit. He says the visit is of historical significance to both Stratford and its Dutch population and that dating back to the Second World War, when Stratford served as a training base for the Princess Irene Brigade, the Dutch have played a major role in our city’s history.
