P.D.H.U. Outdoor Movie Night Announced

The Perth District Health Unit wants parents to be aware of smoking in movies.

Health officials say in the last decade 86 per cent of movies with smoking were rated between G and PG-13.

According to officials, when kids see smoking on screen they have a much higher chance of trying it themselves.

On July 14th, the health unit is holding special outdoor movie night event at SERC in Stratford to bring more awareness to the issue of smoking in kids movies.

The event starts at 7:30pm and the feature film Trolls will run at dusk.

The health unit is asking all parents to consider signing a petition that would force all future movies featuring smoking to be released with an 18A rating.

You can find more details on that petition here. http://smokefreemovies.ca/
