St. Mary’s Introduces Pedestrian Activated Cross Walks in Downtown Core

The Town of St. Mary’s is flipping its downtown crossings to pedestrian activated only.

Director of Public Works Jed Kelly says the activated signals are becoming best-practice for the industry.

He says it also means smoother traffic flow in the downtown core when there are fewer pedestrians.

The town completed an analysis of its traffic arteries last month.

Kelly says it gives Public Works more accuracy for planning and timing for stop lights downtown.
