PED hits three more farms

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea has ravaged three more hog farms in the region.

That includes a finisher operation in Huron County.

OMAFRA confirms the nasty virus was found late last week.

There are now 57 farms in Ontario dealing with PED.

The disease is highly contagious amongst pigs and has also spread to PEI, Quebec and Manitoba.

PED has also wiped out millions of baby pigs in 30 states in the US.

It is not contagious to humans and does not impact meat quality.
