Oxford MPP calls for Local Food Act to be proclaimed

The Oxford County MPP is pressing the Wynne Government to actually proclaim the Local Food Act.

It was passed by the Ontario Legislature back in November but Ernie Hardeman says the Liberals aren’t enacting it.

Every piece of legislation must be proclaimed before it can take effect.

Hardeman says the Liberals put a lot of effort into their PR strategy around the Bill but have not actually moved it forward six months later.

The Local Food Act would increase the use of local food by public sector organizations, increase access to locally grown food and provide tax credits to farmers who work with food banks and  local community food programs.
