Perth-Wellington MP John Nater says he’s pleased the federal government is continuing with its commitment to agriculture through a new funding announcement.
Ottawa will be continuing its five-year, three-billion dollar commitment to funding for Canada’s agri-food sector.
Nater says some funding will be going to new areas in the field, without any indication where the money to shore up the new components will be coming from.
Nater says an important component of the funding will be going to commerce and trade, a significant component of our economy in southwestern Ontario.
Ottawa recently announced its NAFTA council as it heads into pending trade talks.
