Police Services Board Recommending Panic Lights be Mandatory for Taxis

The City of Stratford’s Police Services Board is recommending to council that all cabs in the city be equipped with panic lights.

City Cabs made their case to committee on why the feature, which is baseline in many cities, could help drivers in here Stratford should there be an emergency.

The board also deferred a motion to grant increased cab fares from nine dollars to $10.50.

The change would maintain the discount for seniors if implemented.

The board will re-evaluated the request in the next meeting as a planned increase in minimum wage would increase operating costs for the taxi company.
