Perth County Council has voted in favour of providing funding to help both rural and urban residents be better connected.
It means Perth County has joined fifteen other municipalities in southern Ontario in stepping up broadband networks where they’re needed most.
In total, the county will be investing near $560,000 for its portion of funding into the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology partnership.
SWIFT says most of its 180 million dollars in total funding will be going to infrastructure alongside local providers.
Huron, Middlesex and Norfolk counties have yet to make a decision on committing to the project.
